I-witness Holocaust Field School Project

The
Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies at the University of Victoria
is pleased to again offer a new and life-changing course, to be held in
Central Europe beginning in May 2012 called the I-witness Holocaust
Field School Project. This field school is designed to explore ways in
which the Holocaust has been memorialized at various Central European
historical sites, museums and monuments and will provide students with
an opportunity to acquire a deeper understanding of antisemitism,
racism, religious intolerance, homophobia and the stigmatization of the
mentally and physically disabled communities.
The
program will run from May 7 to June 2, with the first week of classes
taking place at the University of Victoria and the following three
weeks in Europe. Participants will travel to Berlin (Germany), Warsaw
and Cracow, (Poland), and Prague (Czech Republic).
